Studio HVAC: All about mini-split systems, HRV's and ERV's.

Thank you, Stuart. I am anxious to re-read the article now that you updated it. One of the appealing things about dedicated mini-splits in the sound rooms was that I could control each individually. I have 3 control rooms and 1 large room… There will be lots of times when the rooms are unoccupied. A...

Stuart – You are amazing. For the last few days I have been fretting about all this, and you have made it very clear! And I am receiving it on my birthday! Happy Birthday to me ! I think it is admirable that you are so willing to give out this valuable information. My control rooms will be 23’ x 20’...

Greetings and a Question or two (or three)

Stuart – About the HVAC Ducts and Silencers… If Paul (and myself) are doing Mini-Splits – we do not need Ducts and Silencers for that – correct? But we do need Ducts and Silencers for the fresh air (ERV) unit – right? And… do we need two for the ERV - one for the duct of the fresh air coming in and ...

Site-built door pair, for high isolation.

It seems to me it would be easier to build the door like this. 1. Start with an ordinary solid-core door (no window – keep it simple) 2. Install the drop-down threshold seal, at the bottom of the door 3. Make the door frame and put it in place 4. Hang the door with several heavy-duty hinges 5. Build...

Site-built window pair, for high isolation.

Hey there Killer Joe – In your drawing you have an “External Glass Façade”. Are these windows to the outside of your building? That will bring in light from the outdoors? I am planning the same thing ! What is your “External Glass Façade” ? I am in Texas and the architect was saying that the externa...
